サム トフト(Sam Toft)
絵画表面の持つ質感をゲル状の様に加工し、油絵のような質感を再現した技術を得意とする女性作家。サムは幼少の頃、郵便局で働くのが夢でしたが、周囲の反応や、芸術への思いも重なり、技術学校を卒業し学位を得ます。5年後、アートを学びたいと思い2003年リバプールの美術学校でたくさんの感性を磨きます。その後、活躍が認められ、ギャラリーで個展を開き、海外でも活動するようになりました。「私は今世紀末に生まれ幸せだ。テキスタイル、子供のリズム、キャラクター、帽子、ノスタルジックな音楽、愛らしい犬、全てのものが結合し合い、話となって私の心を捉えイマジネーションとなる。」と言ってはばからない彼女。画き出される独特の手法はもとより、サムは不思議な想像の世界を持って美という芸術に望んでいます。 |
